Hey Mama-bear,
I used to think I was “too controlling” — until I noticed my then 6 month old screaming until his face turned red, when gravity stole his ball away.
His little brain was thinking, “Nooooo…. I don’t want this to be happening! I want my ball back! Why don’t I have more controlll!”
It’s normal for us to want control. We were born wanting control.
It’s an important part of the human design. It keeps us well and alive.
But it becomes a bit more nuanced as you enter adulthood and find yourself in life’s challenges.
The fertility journey has a knack for making you feel more out of control than you’ve ever felt in your life. “Why can’t I control what I’m supposed to do?”
The ego hates this. And it tends to double down when this happens. “Work HARDER. Push HARDER. Research HARDER. Don’t leave any stone unturned!!!” Which if we’re being honest, makes us feel even farther away from the goal.
In today’s podcast, I’m going to discuss the topic of control to:
Alleviate all the self-judgment you have around being “too controlling”
Offer a new solution when things really do start feeling too out-of-control and you need to feel like you have a handle on your life and fertility journey.
Introduce a reframe around this topic of women being “too much.” Maybe this label of “too controlling” is more shit the patriarchy pours on us to keep us people pleasing as opposed to asking for what we really want?
