Part 2: What Do YOU Need Right Now?
There are two aspects of you.
Your ego – The part of your identity that you consider your "self." (Left side of the brain)
Your spirit – Who you are beneath the labels. The authentic self. Who you were born as - It never changes. (Right side of the brain)
Eckhart Tolle describes these aspects of self very pragmatically. One morning, he woke up after considering to commit suicide and said “I cannot live with myself any longer.” He then contemplated, who is the “I” that cannot live with “myself”? He recognized that he was describing two different aspects of self. The “I,” being the observer of the situation or what I like to call, his spirit, and “myself” being his ego.
So if I ask, what do YOU need right now, I am communicating to your spirit. Not your ego or your personality.
WHY COME FROM SPIRIT?
Your spirit is the essence that has been with you since you were a child. Remember what it was like to be a kid? You had no stress, no worries, and no fears. In fact, you were fearLESS. You were present, laughed all the time, cried exactly when you wanted to and were allowed to just be yourself. THAT’S your spirit. Who in the hell wouldn’t want to be that happy and carefree once again?
HOW TO ACCESS SPIRIT
Feed your spirit by giving it what it needs. I don't mean, "I need to pay my visa bill." or "I need to take my kids to school." I mean, what does your spirit need in order for your to show up and complete your day-to-day tasks.
For example, my spirit needs:
A lavender scented bath.
A new playlist.
A ravine walk.
A long and deep sleep tonight.
Fresh, organic food.
Water.
To laugh.
To wonder.
To listen.
Notice how all of these things get you out of your head and into the moment? That's when you know you're coming from spirit.
Channel your childlike self, come from your spirit and write down 5 things YOU need today and do it for yourself as an act of self-love.
What does your spirit need?
The more you come from spirit the more you will encourage and bring out the best in those around you. More on that topic in Part 3.
