My Weekend with Carmel Joy Baird & Sonia Choquette - Part 1: Trust Yourself
I got an email from my mom a couple months ago with the subject of the email reading: We gotta go!
The body of the email was a newsletter from CMT’s Mom’s a Medium, Carmel Joy Baird, inviting her tribe to take part in a weekend retreat with her and Sonia Choquette.
Sonia Choquette is a New York Times Bestselling author and was my very first spiritual idol. My mom bought me Ask Your Guides in March 2012. I know the exact date because my mom writes a little love note and the date in every book she gives to me. My life has not been the same since I read that book. It changed my life forever.
No word of a life, my mom and I were so excited to sign up and solidify our spots that we didn’t even read what we were going to be taught.
Fast-forward a couple months later to the weekend of the retreat and we learn that we are in a Psychic Medium Course. We knew that over the course of the weekend we were going to get in touch with our intuition, but we didn’t know we were going to be talking to dead people! We had an unbelievably magical weekend that I wish I could repeat over and over again.
I learned so much and really want to share with you the important lessons that I absorbed so I’ll be writing a 3 Part series and ending this week with a great giveaway!
Part 1: Trust Yourself
Your Sixth Sense
Sonia Choquette has spent most of her life helping people realize that we’re all spiritual beings endowed with six, not five senses. She suggests that what’s even more important is that we need our sixth sense to fulfill our life’s purpose and to be peaceful and happy. Our sixth or psychic sense is not a physical sense like the other five – it’s more of a spiritual sense, which is connected to our heart.
How to Listen to Your Sixth Sense
Think of your communication line with spirit as a very precise and specific radio station. As you attempt to find the right station, it might sound muffled, fuzzy and mixed as you stream through the various channels. Once you find a clear station, you listen in to see if it feels right. You may spend a little time (some even a few years) at the wrong station, but if you're determined and committed, you will discover, connect and tune into your personal guidance system.
Guidance come's when you're not forcing it. I get inspiration at odd times when I'm doing random things and not even thinking about it. If I need guidance immediately, I'll quiet my mind and open my heart in a peaceful meditation. Sometimes I get insight in the meditation and other times, it's immediately after.
Trust what you get
As a medium, Carmel Joy Baird has to trust whatever messages come to her. Meaning, if she hears a spirit that has passed on say “corn” she has to relay “corn” to her client, even though it may sound silly to her. More often than not, when she communicates these awkward words to her clients, they begin to ball their eyes out, as the word carried a lot of meaning to her client when the spirit was alive.
On a daily, consistent basis, Carmel is taking a huge leap of faith in herself and in spirit.
Can you say the same?
Sure, maybe you’re not an active Psychic Medium, but a clear communication line to inspiration and guidance is always readily available to you. You are just as important and just as special.
The good news is that you no longer need to consult with your hairdresser, your dog groomer, and your husband about a problem and instead can get quiet and listen to your own guidance for answers. The bad news? Well, there is no bad news. If you tap into, trust and follow your guidance, I can promise you that it will change your life forever.
So much of my job as a Life Coach is helping people trust themselves. Giving them the encouragement and confidence that the clear guidance or gut feeling they’re receiving is valid.
Trust Strengthens Guidance
At first, our communication with spirit may sound like subtle whispers, but as you trust and follow through with it, it will get indisputably stronger.
